And Baltimore is a great example of a meritocracy...i have two cousins that grew up there and went on to become excellent black professionals (one was just offered a VP job at BET which she turned down)

And i have another cousin who grew up there and sold drugs and been in and out of jail. There is no "system" thats holding people back... most of these people just make bad choices and grew up with bad parents who allow them to continue to make bad choices

And I have yet to see a movie theater or a church get shot up by a Baltimore goon... the only people getting shot are the people choosing to live that lifestyle...

The only victims aren't just those who are getting shot but the overall toxic nature of the environment as a whole and how the impact the community at large. If you have to worry about ducking under a table for cover when you hear gunshots outside because a bunch of fools are shooting each other, that has a negative impact on your daily life and most likely any kids you have. This is destructive no matter how you slice it.

If you think having nightly and daily shootings in your neighborhood is in no way detrimental I don't know what to tell you dude.

Also the research I referenced wasn't just a topical survey of who is stressed out or not. It was a longitudinal study over a long period of time correlating real biological changes such as increased cortisol levels in individuals from these neighborhoods which is released in response to stress. Higher than the average and also other biological changes in the brain and body as it relates to stresses in these environment. Its not just normal stress but equivalent to living a war-zone. This has correlated to anti-social behavior and other issues later in life during adolescence and adulthood and also various health related issues.

Also you can't compare the occasional mass shooting to people dying in the street everyday, not even mentioning drug deal, assaults, and just other detrimental behavior that usually exists in these communities along with the higher murder rate. This is a reason some people aren't investing back into the community because there is no sense of security in living in these communities when you get money or to operate a business due to dysfunction.
