During a length appearance on Delfi TV in Lithuania, LaVar Ball once again made clear that he think the Los Angeles Lakers should be trying to win instead of excusing losses as the byproduct of youthful inexperience. But while the Big Baller Brand CEO spoke highly of Lonzo Ball’s role in the Purple and Gold’s turnaround, he pointed to another playmaking youngster as the team’s top talent: Julius Randle.

“Julius Randle, in the beginning, they was ready to trade him,” LaVar said. “I told them from the beginning, ‘He’s your best player on the team on the fact that he stronger and faster than everybody on the team.'”

The Big Baller called for leniency when unleashing the full depth and breadth of Randle’s bullish talents.

“You gotta let him loose,” LaVar went on. “Just because he make a few mistakes, don’t be like, ‘Hey, you gotta get out, you got an attitude. I’ma bring you off the bench.’ Now, he’s starting and doing wonders.”

I don't think he has to score that much and that is not his mindset. He will probably have a lot of 15 ppg years due to how he plays the game but his teams will be rated really highly in efficiency.

Having a PG that can't score or threaten the defense will severely limit the team breh.

But he's a 20yo rookie and already displaying great things as far as vision, controlling the tempo, getting guys involved, defending and so on.

If he can continue to shoot it well he will be alright. The rest of his scoring game will hopefully develop but if he is a 40%+ three point shooter on decent volume then that opens up everything.

That's elite territory breh. He's improved a lot as the season went on (which is why it was such a shame he missed so much time) but this is a big leap to make.

I agree. I’m in wait and see mode since he’s either been historically bad or elite depending on what 15 game sample size you want to use :lolbron:

The team forced their own hand and they're gonna have to bring him back. Randle will hold the leverage in negotiations, so less than $15 million is a pipe dream, in my opinion.

His conversion rate around the rim has consistently gone up for three years including this season's spike, so there's something to be said for that. The percentage of his assisted hoops has also gone up in that time frame. Luke has him playing within his own limitations better than ever; he's getting through to Randle.

He still takes (and makes) a lot of tough/funky shots, which makes me nervous for long term consistency. He's been playing very well, but I'm still leary about giving him a big time contract (which he is going to get).

I would still take Nance over him. :kobeumad:

I'm not saying that he can't score but that he chooses not to in a lot of situations. That's why he won't be one of those 20ppg scorers. As Lonzo showed last night, all he needs to be is a threat to drive or shoot the 3 while getting his teammates involved and he shows his value.

Julius Randle is a beautiful human being. :dame:

@Malta come in here and give homage to Young Reckless. :birdman:

18 & 9 as the starting PF. :leon:
57% from the field. :wow:
Almost 80% from the line, too. :picard:

Pay homage, and I'll forgive you for referring to my little brother with such slanderous nicknames as Cop Face. :stopitslime:

Norfeast groovin…
New Orleans is only letting go of AD for another top 10 player AND picks. I don't think the Lakers have the assets to get AD.

That’s true. They’d have to feel like Ingram and/or Kuzma will become top 10-15 players in the league. Or else we don’t stand a chance unless we sign him outright. Boogie’s injury doesn’t help either unless they resign him to a decent deal.
