So Johnson knows what he needs. He’s got to import a special player. George checks a lot of boxes. The Pacers star is a top-10 player at peak performance. He has struggled with consistency in the playoffs, but has already played in 63 playoff games. And he doesn’t turn 27 until May 2. Still in his prime, he already has made two trips to the Eastern Conference finals, both times being denied a trip to the NBA Finals by the best player in the sport, LeBron James. A SoCal native, he’s been talking about playing for his hometown team, the Lakers, for a long time. He’s never made his long-term intentions a secret within the Pacers’ locker room, according to former teammates. He wants to wear the purple and gold.

Magic Johnson should steer clear of Paul George in search for next Lakers superstar

None of that bothers me at this point. They need a starting point and George is that. Who/what else are they gonna get in the next three years?

Exactly, PG will potentially bring in other guys..but I really don't want to get rid of Ingram, I dont care if anyone else is involved.
If we get PG we wont have no cap room so whatever we have on the roster now is what we would have. Which is why the idea of trading doesnt make any sense. He is FA the next year as well...if he makes it abundantly clear he wants to play for us he will rather indy trades him or not. The idea of giving up assets for him is dumb especially considering do so would make us a treadmill team if that

They aren't gonna have cap room anyway unless you want everything spent on Mozzy, Deng, Randle, Clarkson and Russell.

They would have to shred around 10m (depending on cap increase) to sign paul outright. The best move would to be do nothing this offseason, and gauge growth. Then try to sign pg next offseason and hope Russell and Ingram take the leap

The problem with that is there's a very high chance he gets traded somewhere else either before or during next season. He might have his heart set on the Lakers NOW, but say he winds up in Boston or another team that's currently on the fringe of contention and they have a deep run?

I wouldn't give up the farm for George, but there's a great risk in not getting him or anyone else without a trade.

I don't like how pg approached that playoff series. If the Pacers want DLo they can have him tho
