:martin:Not true nikka in the dmv and philly you have alot of Liberians and a significant portion are AmericoLiberian.

I grew up with the two below who look VERY AA

SPOILER=" "]
[/SPOILER]

One is a tolbert too. Both have a significant AA look thats regardless of skin tone.

Majority of Liberians I know and related too are Americo Liberian. While mande tribes can look AA, that's not the reason certain Americo Liberian have an AA. It's because they descended from AA and didn't intermix for generations.

You're indigenous so your perspective maybe different than mine as in my family we are creole and intermarry with Americo Liberians masons, kings, tubmans.

I notice salone people who aren't creole, Nigerians who arent creole tend to under mine the influence of of Creole people as well.

lol mofo Americo Liberians WERE ALWAYS A MINORITY in Liberia. The stats are literally anywhere you look. And Nobody was speaking on Americo's looking AA. Of course you know Americo Liberians if you are one, Liberians and most Africans in general tend to associate with their tribes/ethnic group more so than their "country men".

I was born in the US so I have no bias to any of the tribal nonsense because it's a non factor in America.

Is it safe to assume a high yella Liberian is AmericO-Liberian ? I had a class with one Liberian chick but idk her actuall ethnic group

No, Cashmere already alluded to this but many have European admixture and who knows what else.

@KidStranglehold From what I remember, I'm surprised you keep saying Liberians are definitely and easily top 5 in WA.....I know you don't have them over Guineans, Ivorians, Senegalese and you seem into Malians.

Later in Liberia, these African Americans integrated 5,000 liberated Africans called Congos (former slaves from the Congo Basins, who were freed by British and Americans from slave ships after the prohibition of the African slave trade) and 500 Barbadian immigrants into the hegemony.[2] Unlike the Sierra Leone Creoles, Americo-Liberians rarely intermarried with indigenous West Africans.

The colonists and their descendants led the political, social, cultural and economic sectors of the country; they ruled the new nation from 19th century until 1980 as a dominant minority. From 1878 to 1980, the Republic of Liberia was a one-party state ruled by the Americo-Liberian-dominated True Whig Party and Masonic Order of Liberia.[3] "

"They are an estimated population of 150,000 out of the 3.5 million people in the nation."

A High Yellow Liberian could be one with Euro Admixture (due to the Diaspora or German) or mixed with Lebanese.

In my fam I have a lot of biracial cousins on my mom side who are Liberian with Israeli mothers.

My mom is Light Skin (well light brown) and 100% African though.

I'm confused... Because 1. that is my list and 2. I always said Liberians are in the top 5 but now even more that I am meeting more in real life.

I still have 1. Guineans 2. Ivory Coast 3. Malians 4. Liberians 5. Senegalese

Depending on which tribe the person is from Ivorians, Liberians, and Guineans are technically the same people. Many of the tribes in these areas came from the Sahel (Mali Empire to be specific).

Yeah, seems to match what I've heard from other Liberians.

Interesting ordering :ehh:

:russ: Dawg I had Madd Liberians who went to my high school. More than were half Americo. I think my point was you stated that a person is more likely to come across a non americo liberian but

in the dmv dat ain't true nikka. Americo Liberians are minority in liberia but there numbers here in america are significant as they've been here before other groups.

Almost every Americo Liberian I know has parents or grand parents migrate from Liberia for college pre war

I gotta disagree with that one. Most of the Liberians I see in the US have been Kru people, then everything else has been a pretty even mix. I've been around the country and rarely come across Americo liberians.

Hell the Liberian kid who got drafted to the NBA not to long ago is from my tribe.

I doubt most Liberians are Akan like Ivorians. But interesting that Liberian ethnics too migrated down from the Sahel/Mali. I always knew it was Guineans tho.

I wasn't saying most I`m just saying many of the same tribes are found in all 3 places. My parents are from Nimba County which borders Guinea and the Ivory cost thus our tribes are found in all 3 countries. When the Mali empire fell from what I understand my tribe moved south into Guinea for a min, then moved into Liberia and the Ivory Coast.
