No, you're wrong. American slavers did NOT pick the bulk of the same ethnic groups because different ethnic groups were NEEDED for specific tasks. Slaves from the Angola/Congo area were the first slaves to be taken mainland America. However American slavers realized they needed other ethnics for specific tasks. For example in the Carolinas they needed slaves from the Senegambia/Sahel area because Africans from there were skilled in rice cultivation. In Virginia/Maryland Igbo slaves were preferred. In Louisiana slaves from the Congo were preferred. And so on and so on... Different states had different ethnic groups they preferred. So again no they did NOT chose from the bulk of the same ethnic group.

Which is why when it comes to DNA ancestry individual AAs show a diversity of different African ethnic groups.

But no where near as much as the 100 different ethic tribes currently in Nigeria itself

And where did I talk about Nigeria's population? More population =/= More ethnic diversity. And if you read MY post, you would see me say if Nigeria might actually lack in ethnic diversity to another country like say Mali, since Africans are so diverse

I know you didn't bring up population but I did, what I meant was that Nigeria does not have more ethnic diversity than the entire West African+Central African region. Arguing so would be silly. You keep bringing up "Nigeria has 100 ethnics this and that." That's nice and all but ONCE AGAIN AAs and Afro-Brazilians are mixed with many African ethnic groups that go BEYOND the borders of Nigeria... From the Sahel West Africa all the way down to the forest Central Africa. This is not hard to grasp.

Where do you see anyone bragging? This is FACT. A large amount of different African ethnics from the region of West Africa and the region of Central Africa were taken to USA and Brazil. That is more diversity than Nigeria.

No I read your post. The problem is that you're not reading mines. At the bolded, the fact that Europeans were using the slaves for "specific tasks" as you say, means that they were CHERRY PICKING which ethnic groups that they wanted in each of the African countries, which furthers my point. Sorry, you can't say Europeans cherry picked their favorite ethnic group for labor, then say AA and Brazilians are more ethnically diverse

You keep side stepping the 100 ethnities in Nigeria comment, good job. You seem to not understand. The difference between one ethnic group in Nigeria is like the difference between someone from France, and someone from the Philippines. Now multiply that difference by 100. That is 100 completely different type of people living in 1 country. This is not even just Nigeria. I can go to the Congo, and you'll have 80 plus ethnicities that aren't even close in genotype/phenotype

You make these threads with lack of knowledge of Africa itself. Watch, the next thread would be another African country, and you'll pick the 3-4 famous ethnic groups like that's all the people there. Try visiting Africa as see for yourself and stop relying on google/instagram

It's crazy cause i noticed culturally many Nigerians tribes are related.

Yorubaondo-edobini-edoishan-ikaigbo-igbo-efik-ibibio-igboikwerre-kalabari-ijaw-urhobo-iitsekiri-yoruba-Ijawdelta-ijawondo-yoruba-nupe-edoishan-igbo-igala-igarra-idoma-Igbo.

And some studies even back this up. Nigerians(at least the ones in the South) appear to be intermediate with one another. Meanwhile Diasporans are mixed with ethnics from the freaking SAHEL like Tuaregs, Wolof, Fulani all the way down to the FOREST Congo/Angola area with the Kongo people! Ethnic groups from those two regions are distant! And don't overlap like most Southern Nigerians.

The 16% taken from Nigeria and the 11% from Sierra Leone are the percentage of the total slaves that were part of the slave trade. NOT of the total that was living in Nigeria or Sierra Leone

If the slave holders were cherry picking (as you already admitted) then the slaves they got were not that much ethnically different from each other. So you're getting 11% of a group that are already lacking it ethnic diversity among themselves. And there's 8 countries shown, which each of them were cherry picked which ethnicity was chosen (as you already admitted). So you're getting roughly 3-4 ethnicities each county times 8
