Life is absurd. Lean into it.
ROC had better lyricists and arguably better production, but Bad Boy put out the better complete projects. They did popular rap right, if that makes sense.
Rocafella signed some great bar spitters, but kinda let them do their own thing, which I know most artists want, but Bad Boy had that perfect balance to tweak shyt so it felt more complete. Someone like Mase couldn't hold a candle to most of Rocafella lyrically, but Harlem World was a better project than 85% of the stuff that came out on Rocafella. Hell, Lox wouldn't have crushed Dipset like they did without their time on Bad Boy.
I always felt like Biggie would've been Big L status without Puff. Imagine if Big L got signed to Bad Boy.
I say all this with Jay being my favorite rapper. But that's strictly off of depth of catalog. Jay got some projects that are straight duds.
