You should check my analysis of that song on the first page of this thread
I hear ya.
There are some haitian tracks that I thought were samples of Angolan semba tracks until I looked up the songs release dates and realized it was the other way around

The one I could never tell who sampled who was this one which sounds exactly like Coupé Cloués hit track

Problème is there are so many different versions of this track all over the diaspora you don't know which is which anymore. In Haiti alone there are 3 Haitian versions of it

@The Odum of Ala Igbo

Flavours production team apparently samples a lot of Caribbean joints. This is clearly a sample of a Haitian tune but can't remember the exact song.

Perhaps @Soundbwoy can help me pinpoint it cause I know this track but can't recall from where. I wanna say Harmonik but I could be wrong

Edit:
@KingSlime @LeVraiPapi @Lord Scion
One of you Haitian brehs tell me which haitian artist they sampled on this. I know that beat from years ago especially the first 10 seconds is an exactly the same

US, Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba are the biggest influences in African music
Honestly I think they (Africans) influence us more than we influence them. A lot of music professors and musicians will admit to this b a lot of things we claim to have invented came from or was heavily influenced by Africans. It's like if they influenced us and then we build upon it and influence them then who's influencing who?
It's at least both way :manny:

At the very least most of our drum patterns come from there though folk music wether we realize it or not. Many Haitian konpa tracks for example tend to have this subtle drum pattern underneath that you barely notice if you're not paying attention.

Like the song below ("Chalatan" by Zin) is one of a 3-way tie for my absolute favorite songs ever. If you pay close attention you can hear it in the background throughout the song

That same drum pattern came from and is heard in many haitian rasine-vodou music which is clearly african. Now ive heard many newer african tracks with that same pattern but it's more pronounced. So who influenced who, here?

Edit: That same drum pattern is even more pronounced on this track if you have trouble cedyphering it from the above one. There is a Angolan-Kizomba track ive heard that is pretty much a sample of the below track from Zin but they just sped-up the tempo

Does anyone have any information on this style of music below?

I'd like to hear some of the more modern african versions of what influenced Haitian rasine-vodou music like the one below. This one is from the Haitian-Rasine-vosou GAWD Azor :blessed:

THis man was a GAWD on them drums :ohlawd:

R.I.P. to the Gawd. Died way too soon
