I think Pea lowkey represents how a lot of the nikkas in the hood, the man ones who usually be the funniest can quickly turn to violence at the drop of a hat.

Like someone mentioned how quickly he snapped at ol'girl for not buying that lil stank ass dress in the alley.

Or how buddy just up and told them kids to get the fukk outta they business when Jody was fixing they bike.

How Jody basically exaggerated how Melvin was as a person and was ready to pop him at a moments notice.

Like, he reminds me of the cases of how gangs would pick up dudes who weren't really introspective/critical guys and have them do all they dirt, namely kill without a question ask.

Buddy ass was lowkey a great example of someone with Borderline Personality Disorder.

EDIT: when you think about it, the relationship between Pea and Jody was oddly similar to George and Lennie in Of Mice and Men.

Given her poor choice of men (Jody's father was a thuggish type as well as the other men she dated), Jody, as well as his older brother (who probably behaved exactly like Jody), never had a positive responsible male influence to lead them down the path of becoming a man.
