Soooo, nobody is questioning NDT's assertion that the earth is shaped like this?:

pear-imported-united_1.jpg

Because that's definitely not a globe or sphere.

He was trying to dumb it down for people who don't understand terms like "oblate spheroid"
Yeah, I understand what he was doing, also when he was talking about the spinning pizza dough analogy. My question is, Do people think that the "oblate spheroid" is more correct than the perfect sphere that supposedly represents earth?

yes. The oblate spheroid earth model is what aerospace engineers and flight dynamicists use for designing satellite orbits because that's how the earth is truly shaped. On top of the earth's rotation, mountain ranges also happen to factor into the shape of the earth as well.

I'm not an aerospace engineer but I do work side by side with them every day.

In grade school they'll teach you that's it's sphere and that's good enough to be honest.

Holodomor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
That crazy nikka starved millions of people to death.
And that's only a portion of the people he killed.

stalin killing more people than hitler was normal, well known history i thought. hitler was out here goin ham on the jews with some other nikkas sprinkled in, but stalin was getting at anyone in range basically

BoB bout to be out here chillin, getting history lessons from mel gibson, tryna act like he woke.

the worst thing aobut this all is this nikka is hashtagging #idiocracy like we're the ones thats retarded :why:

Fair enough, what about rocket and space shuttle flight patterns? Why do they always curve on ascent? Because that seems like a waste of fuel when you can basically go in a straight "line"

That's a good question and I don't really know the answer to it. I'll tell you what, I'm snowed out from work right now but when I go back in I'll ask the experts (we're snowed out right now:ld:)

If I had to guess I'd wager they go that route due to all of the forces at play (drag, thrust, gravity from earth and the moon, etc...).

Those concepts are bullshyt.

I disagree.

Difference between you and I is that one doesn't negate the other in my philosophy. Change in what we know and how we see the world is inevitable. A lot metaphysical concepts will go from being "meta" to mundane as our knowledge expands. Ultimately I feel like the people who REALLY change the world walk that line in the middle...some of the greatest inventors and scientific minds throughout history delved into concepts that don't jive with the thought process of a staunch materialist.

I LOVE Neil, he's an inspiration but he ain't the "one" in that sense...neither is B.O.B. for that matter  Whoever that "one" is, they will probably understand that where limits of the scientific method lie is where everything else begins.

There really isn't anything you can say at this point. :wow: especially considering it was disproven over 500 years ago...

All logic and reason is out the window. Let's just enjoy the fukkery :blessed:

You substituted religion in lieu of a more palatable, more ambiguous, less committal version of superstition.
