aren't the worse teams eligible for buyout candidates before the good teams? that'd mean the bulls would have the first crack at :russ: before the clippers could.
Thankfully Reinsdorf is too cheap to pick him up off waivers which would mean paying the rest of his full contract

:wtb: the jazz are gonna buy him out for the majority of what he's owed. it wouldn't really cost the bulls shyt to get him for the remainder of the season.

You’re conflating two different kinds of transactions … if the Jazz “buy out” Russ that means he becomes an unrestricted free agent immediately and is free to sign anywhere (no bulls priority) as his current contract would be dissolved but that usually only happens when the player is willing to take a reduction from the amount left on his contract … if he decides not to do that for the Jazz he will be “cut” or “waived” which puts him and the remainder of his contract into waivers where a team can make a claim for him ..but the team that claims him has to pay the rest of the money owed in his deal …this is why most waived players will always clear waivers with no bids because at that point they become unrestricted free agents and the new team isn’t responsible for the old contract
