You post them shyts but lets be real: What do we have with Pat? Is this guy a potential centerpiece or a role player who can slay bums like Minny's B squad last year? He was putting up 20 in the playoffs even though we lost. Either we use him or we trade him and get pissed off when he blossoms elsewhere.
I still don't really know what this system looks like that you speak of... and Donovan has been here 3 years.
Team had the most success by riding the ISO talents of DeMar DeRozan. His previous teams were lead by other elite HoF level scorers/isolation players too. I've said it before, but the most disappointing news for me was finding out Billy was extended, cause even if they do shake shyt up, the team still will be lead by a guy that really leaves a lot desired.
I never mentioned a system, and Iso works but not with this group. I do know they want more ball movement but lets just admit that it doesn't work when one of our players comes in and sucks the air out to get his contested shot off. How do we win games if the other team sprints into transition 3s and Demar dribbles 4 times, screams "AYYYYYYEEEE" and doesn't get the call, then they run back and shoot another 3 or get an easy dunk? Demar last year was lights out. This year is is merely very good. It masked a bunch of weaknesses last year but this year the team isn't clicking for some reason even though our defense becomes elite in the 2nd half. Our offense has been shyt and never really got to shape up even last year after Zo went down. We normally have the potential for ball movement, cuts, Vooch down low, or a 43% shooter at 7 attempts a game with Zo, as well as transition laser beams from Zo that encourage transition play. This year our ball movement comes and goes (come back from a big deficit, blow it on dumb Zach 3s and Demar pumpfakes to foul baits). Alternatively, we move the ball but get it turned over too much. Tonight at one point we were shooting 58% to NYs 44% and were losing by double digits. On nights where Vooch is cooking in the post, we don't ride him to 20-25 points. He gets his 12-15 and then give it to Zach or Demar and push him to the perimeter. We lost Zo and his 3s so now we have to live with AC, Javonte, and DJJ taking those.
Anyway imma stop cause I can literally keep typing, but Demar is good AND needs to go. Our team is better off figuring out how to get production from everyone and taking our losses while building better habits. No one on this team can individually make up the 25-35+ points Demar is usually good for but for the teams future, we either show we are about modern basketball or we aren't. Demar isn't KD or Kawhi so he isn't going to pull us like other iso gods do.
