What's the ETA on this playing out?
I've always said that the range between his floor and ceiling is vast. He's the type of player that can make a lot of people look like fools or visionaries when he eventually realizes his potential as a player (whatever that may be). His impact will increase by default when he's playing more minutes with Lonzo next season.
I'm hoping next season is a feel out season and the following is the breakout.
Hopefully we don't get straight swept and Pat is able to gain some good playoff experience vs the best of the best. Playing well against the Champs can be an incredible confidence boost early on in his development.
But usually guys figure it out their 3rd year. Pat missed this year so I'm giving him one more. I also don't count his rookie year as a true rookie year bc it's clear now that playing without a crowd doesn't count (see Randle, Julius). I do think redshirting this year had some benefits (Pat said all he did was watch film), so in my optimistic view ya let him figure it out next year and then the party truly starts in 23-24.
Tatum didn't average 20 until year 3, Jaylen Brown year 4. OG didn't flash any offense until last year. Kawhi's offense didn't really blossom until his 4th year (I'm looking these dudes up on bball reference)
Out of those guys Pat is most similar to Brown- 2 footed jumpers, not elite handles, decent strokes, clearly holding a lot of talent. He's who I think I'll compare Pat to the most in terms of development timeline.
