Breh, everybody knows that these Wiki "stats" are bogus.

I don't know how many units they moved on their first album, but it wasn't no 800K. Steady Mobb'n was not even THAT big of a deal on the tank. They were hardly featured on No Limit albums as it was.

I used Snoop as an example. The point is No Limit was cross promotion heavy.

No Limit didn't need that type of exposure because they had artists NO ONE had ever heard of featured on platinum albums with ads inside the booklets of those platinum albums.

Think about all the hype of a new album: album covers, tracklist, features, production credits. With No Limit, you had everything but the tracklist BEFORE the albums dropped. With every album, you knew what it looked like, knew BBTP would be handling the production, and knew most of the roster would be featured BEFORE the album hit shelves.
Exactly. And that's why it was a beautiful thang

Both Steady Mobb'ns albums probably didn't sell 500k combined. They were one of the smallest acts, even tho they debuted with a hit single collabo with P (who got their original song and changed it up, just like How Ya Do Dat)

In this thread we are understating and misremembering the LARGE RADIO PRESENCE of No Limit and music video tv station airplay.

In the North East of the USA and Eastern Seaboard No Limit did nget radio play with Make Em Say Uhh and rotation on Music Telvision. Music Industry Publications Master P Silk made covers if The Source and had consistent print advertisement

Silk was going DOUBLE PLATINUM AND HAD A FEATURE ON A MAYA SINGLE.

For SOUTHERN RADIO the lesser popular SILK singles that got limited to no airplay in the North East got Spin in the Southern staes radio.

A 2 year period of the album and singles sales of Master P and Silk the Shocker and C Murder alone make you a highly profitable record label.

It definitely was beautiful. Hearing "I'm A Soldier" and looking at the back case and seeing most of those featured had albums coming out was exciting. I mean, literally if you liked a verse or that artist's style and saw they had an album coming, it was hype. Most labels sucked about dropping albums on time. No Limit stuck to schedule for the most part.

Come on now, Why would wiki put Steady Mobbin of all groups on the label as selling 700k???

Plus, why would P give them a second album if they didn't sell well on their first time around??

By this logic, this would make it much "harder" to sell albums if nobody has heard of an artist, let alone only heard them on a hand full of songs.... vs "seeing" an artist on TV with videos and hearing them on the radio. The artists on TV and radio, non-stop and countdowns would get more exposure.

The last part is facts, but that only plays a minor part in making someone go out and purchase a "new" artists album off NL.

@hex yeah lol

The album would turn out to be Mia X's most successful album commercially and critically, charting at #7 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts selling 99,223 copies in its first week. The single "What'cha Wanna Do" also found success, making it to #41 on the Billboard Hot 100, 4 on the Hot Rap Tracks and 32 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks. By March 3 2000, the album was certified double platinum selling 2.8 million copies in the U.S. Despite its success this is Mia X's last album with No Limit.

That's what folks keep saying "X" was the smaller acts, when Slim, Kane & Able first albums pushed numbers.... I remember "Gangstafied" having a huge success. Silk's first album did what? The Shocker did what?? Folks don't even talk about that album, and it's a classic.
