That Paul Coelho book "The Alchemist" was the most pointless piece of shyt I've read in the last 15 years though.
When I heard nyggas talking about the Alchemist, I was mad hype. That was one of my favorite reads in High School. But there are two separate largely known "books" by the title. The one you mentioned is not classic literature. The one I love is a play but came out as a book:
The Alchemist (play) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For me it was The Great Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye
Came here to post Great Gatsby, read it once, felt nothing. did very poorly on writing assignments. Catcher in the Rye was cool as a youngin, but as an adult, I couldn't finish it. Recently tried to read it again.

Trying to find time to read to kill a Mockingbird real quick, b/c I wan to read the sequel (borrowed from library) since I never read it.

anybody ever read:

I think he's one of the best short-story writers of our time.

Catch 22 was pointless and redundant
Count of Monte Cristo dragged and was long af for no reason with a disappointing ending

Yes Catcher in the Rye was awful. Huge waste of time.

Yeah I wasn't feeling The Alchemist. Felt like that book was trying to be "spiritual" but I'm not religious so I couldn't relate. People love that book tho for some reason smh.

I liked the Catcher in the rye and the same with great gatsby but they were both overrated. Every classic literature is overrated in my opinion. Everything shakespeare wrote.
