I rock with Mortismal especially when it comes to RPGs and TRPGs, I loved how he covered the Pathfinder games over the years but breh seems easily pleased. He also called Dragon Age Veilguard GOTY. Yes it’s all subjective and based on preferences but it also highlights which way he swings on certain matters.

Hopefully there will be a lot of monk abilities despite Obsidian going for the 1st/3rd person feel. Shadowdancer multi-class with assassin rogue subclass or straight shattered pillar monk using whispers of the wind was:wow: in Pillars 2.

Agreed on everything you said.
I don't trust previews at all. Look at Stalker, some of the same people who previewed it, based the finish product.
I'm like, hold up, you didn't see this or think of that during the preview???

Same with dragon age and dragon’s dogma 2, previews for the most part is just marketing.

Reviewers are marketing themselves first and foremost.

A 2 out of 10 brings in lots of views

Beyond that, a good portion of games marketing budget goes to courting reviewers.

Previews are almost always positive, because they are hand selected and pampered.

Reviews from those same outlets can be negative because thats where the marketing budget ends for most companies. Even when you try to be selective of review copies like starfield the other outlets will eventually get them and still review them, not so much with preview events

To make it even more simple, previews are far more controlled by publishers than reviews are

They may be “more” controlled.

But the reviews themselves are controlled as well.
