Avon’s hotshots were worse than anything Marlo did on the show

Above the fray.
Randy's home was FIREBOMBED.
It was a hit, and the method was meant to send a message about "snitches". And about Marlo's power to touch snitches, even with police protecting them.

Nobody spared Randy's life, because firebombing is pretty much an execution

Randy getting @ Carver over the firebombing is the most poignant moment of the series. :mjcry:
Although heartbreaking that's the moment I realized this is the best show ever.

No miracle, no super cops, no happy endings....just real shyt.

MFers called in a false shooting(of a cop).......................security detail leaves and they firebombed a house with sleeping people
===============================

The Dukie storyline is what fukked me up the most, though

AND both characters were effected deeply going forward. Randy lost all innocence and didn't trust anyone and HATED the police. And it made Carver a better police officer even though he was on that path already.
I've been re-watching Season 4 lately. A+ TV, they made the kids lovable and you see all the fukked up shyt they got to go thru. It really makes you mad at society.

real shyt.

When we sit around and talk about the show, even people who aren't huge fans of it admit that the story arc about the young men was the toughest to watch. The dudes with kids say that it rings true that the show depicts the EXACT age when kids shift into the path that they are going to go down in life.

The Dukie shyt fukked me up because you never know what your classmates in junior high were going through at home. I thought about people I went to middle school with who missed WEEKS of school at a time and what their families might have been going through at the time.

Out here in my damn drawls
Good post.
Though, the last line shouldn't be put in there as a tactical victory for Marlo.
Marlo was outsmarted by Avon by thinking he was walking into a meeting with "Boris"....and being greeted by Avon

SURPRISE !!!!! Let me help you find your tongue.
hqdefault.jpg

That was a victory for Avon, all things considered. He lined up Marlo, made him accept HIS terms while having no power on the streets at the time.

Avon was never really into the co-op, so him being off the street wasn't a big deal to Vondas and the Greek. Boris's relationship was only one avenue to get to the Greek

If Marlo would've moved on Joe without the connect, I'm sure he would've given it up no problem

Joe was willing to negotiate anything in exchange for his life

Wait, I just gave you credit for your post, outside of the last line.

But first.....".Avon got lucky that Slim lined up Marlo?"
and now" Marlo would have gotten the connect anyway, without Avon?"

Come on ,man. Is this what we're doing?

I was saying that Avon was able to outmanuever Marlo while holding NO street power.
Next you'll write that Avon got lucky that Boris was in Jessup.

The were either going to have to go directly through Joe or go in between to Boris

Avon had the advantage of being in prison with the right person at the right time

That's a win, but he didn't really gain anything, he just wanted Prop Joe to lose

They're both evil and yeah that dirty H move was wild but Marlo is still worse. Trust me if you're in that world it would be better to deal with folks that are a bit reasonable like Avon. I honestly can't remember any acts of mercy by Marlo on the show. Meanwhile, Avon let Cutty leave the gang and even funded his gym with no strings attached. :dwillhuh: That's crazy because most criminal organizations would have seen Cutty as a liability and plan to put him in the dirt as soon as he lost heart.
Marlo let Bubbles and his boy go in his first appearance I think. When Michael turned his money down he didn't force the issue there either, but he ended up putting Mike on his team so that could be perceived differently. He didn't go at Slim Charles for turning down his boss offer. Those last 2 moves are reaches I know lol.
