i agree with taking time but lets keep it real Apocalypse done right could break records:hubie:

Key thing is “done right”

It took them 6-8 years to make sure the road to Thanos was done right and finished perfectly.

I don’t want them trynna quickly throw “some shyt” out there in 2-3 years

I think banking on technology is a bad move for Cameron and Avatar 2. 2009 was a different time. Everyone didn't have smart phones with 4k video in their pockets 24/7. I'm sure the tech that Cameron is working with is very impressive, however, Marvel is doing these numbers largely because they put in 10+ years of work on storytelling and making people care about their characters. Maybe it's just my personal bias, but in this era I don't see people going to the movies in numbers that would make the biggest box office numbers of all time just to see some new technology on the screen. How many people do you know that re-watch Avatar? I'm not being facetious. I don't know many, and most people I know remember the movie as a technical achievement in film-making but think the story was pretty average and the movie overall was nothing special.

IMO most people truly love Cameron the most for Terminator, Aliens, T-2, The Abyss, and True Lies. They respect Titanic and Avatar but don't have the same love for those movies. Avatar 2 also has to catch Generation-Z, who on the plus side probably saw Avatar as kids, but on the negative side they probably have less relevance and respect for Cameron, assuming they even know who he is. They also grew up with MCU movies year after year in their formative years.

:yeshrug: I dunno. I guess Endgame still hasn't caught Avatar yet, but if it does, I'm not all that confident the world will care enough about Avatar 2 for Cameron to reclaim the #1 spot.
I really couldn’t figure out why titanic made so much. Even crossing $1 billion back then would’ve been amazing for a chick flick. Avatar probably wouldn’t have a compelling sequel because the characters weren’t very interesting. It was the fourth movie released with the premise it had. To keep seeing more, it needs characters to get invested in.

Yes, I am sure that when he checks for surface news from his undersea mansion he will be really mad that he's no longer the only filmmaker who can afford to build an undersea mansion.:skip:

wait...so you mean it’s possible that james cameron is not necessarily throwing dishes on the floor and pulling telephone poles thru his living room wall :patrice:

Why not both? They both deserve their own arc .
Because they already did a big intergalactic threat with Thanos, i don't the followup to that should just be as basic as going bigger and more intergalactic. It wpuld feel kinda repetitive. Doom would be a better next step.

We gonna be watching Avatar 2 in VR and Avatar 3 in AR or Holograms. And it'll still make $4B.
