I think there’s a reason the Russos, Feige, and RDJ keep downplaying the possibility of Victor being a Stark variant in press because they want that reveal to be the “kicker” to whatever this overarching story is going to be.

They don't downplay it... They flat out all say he is NOT a stark variant
So the only gotcha moment in the movie would be because they been flat out lying the entire time. That's fake as fukk... That's like them going on a press run saying Thanos is def not getting the stones and then IW drops.... Yea we'd be shocked.. But only because you lied about it. Not cause you kept it hidden or misdirected us..
They flat out said he's not a Stark variant at all and is the REAL Dr. Doom.. Anything other than that was a lying ass promo run, further telling us they knew it was bad and had to lie
Not sold on that being the case no matter how many times they do deny it and until I see these next two Avengers flicks.
