Kang got hyped in Ant-man b/c people felt like they had to pretend they were hyped. that movie sucked, he was fine, but the character was pretty fukkin lame and we were all just telling ourselves, "nah, he's the big bad of this phase, he's gonna be dope!"
Marvel Studios themselves were hyping tf up outta Kang and couldn’t deliver. The tagline plastered all over the posters for Quantumidia was:

“Witness the beginning of a new dynasty”

the whole first half of that garbage movie was Michelle Pfeiffer like, "he's coming. he's the strongest baddest motherfukker of all time! i'm not telling you his name!" then he showed up and it was... ok. and he got beat by Ant-man.

also watch that post credit scene again, if he had to play any of those characters for extended periods of time, it would've been really bad.

They were trying to make Kang a different sort of big bad from Thanos which I was fine with and I could see what they were going for with his initial presentation. However, just because I could see what they were trying to do doesn't mean it was good. If you burn toast I can see what you were attempting to make but the fact remains you still fukked up a layup, which is what Marvel did here.

First of all, Majors didn't need to play EVERY variant, just the most consequential ones. He could still show off his range without the need to create ridiculous CGI tainted variants of him. He and the multiverse were supposed to be anchor of the next few phases and they did such a piss poor job of integrating either concept into the MCU.

The writers are horrible. The mandates and parameters for them to follow and deliver on are atrocious. The decision making by the higher ups absolutely abysmal. How do you fumble a multiverse story? It's literally a cheat code full of fanservice and ready made reasons to step outside the box with a very forgiving set up for a mistake or two. But Disney/Marvel made as many mistakes as they could fit into these releases.

When are these entertainment companies and creatives going to realize the average movie for does not care about the culture war they are fighting with incels and reactionary media reviewers. Stop putting dumb shyt into your movies to spite them. Just make good movies! That's the easiest way to shut them up or risk their credibility.

I'm annoyed at Disney/Marvel all over again. fukk Bob Iger too.

THESE IDIOTS AROUND HERE KILLED ME
WHEN I SAID KANG SHOULDN'T
DEBUT IN AN ANT MAN MOVIE
UNLESS HE KILLS SOME MAIN CHARACTERS...

NOW EVERYONE HAS AMNESIA

how the fukk did they make that movie and not even kill Hank Pym? you can get plenty of emotional response and raise the stakes by killing 90 year old Michael Douglas, who A. wouldn't be around much longer in the MCU anyway, B. never even suited up, and C. is just big enough a character/actor that it would have impact. that movie is such a piece of crap. you introduce an entire new world that could have set up Kang as an actual trapped conquerer, and it was some of the worst cgi we've seen this decade. every decision in that movie was the wrong one

for all the shyt that phase of Marvel gets, i think Quantumania and Multiverse of Madness are the true downfalls of it all. MoM made close to a bil, and people are distracted by the fact we got some cameos, but that movie is also an ugly bag of shyt that didn't deliver on the premise 1 bit. it also further made Wanda's story/family the fukkin centerpiece of the whole goddamn MCU b/c her tv show was huge when no one could leave their house or watch any new content whatsoever

you can shyt on Love and Thunder and The Marvels, etc, but in the end those were just little side adventures without universal consequence. These 2 bags of shyt were the main movies of the phase that were supposed to set up everything moving forward. i'm glad everything went off course

MoM should have had Baron Mordo as the main villain in a partnership with Kang (something to be revealed in the 3rd act). Scarlett Witch would still be a hero, though obviously a bit traumatized from the whole Wandavision thing. Strange would need her help with a much more powerful Mordo who is causing chaos throughout the multiverse killing sorcerers and also looking for others that can travel through the multiverse to kill them as well. Of course Wanda would be introduced to a potentially dying universe where her kids are real and due to Strange's pigheaded arrogance she's not allowed to save them. THAT would set up her villainous turn for the third movie. She would have a real reason to hate Strange instead of some Darkhold bullshyt or whatever that book is called.

there's no way the Derekson sequel wouldn't have smoked the one we got. Strange 1 is better. it looked better, it flowed better, it was just flat out better. they completely abandoned all the Mordo stuff and now dude is jumping over to the friggin 3rd Venom movie.

But she was already knee deep in the Darkhold at the end of Wandavision. Realistically, she would’ve teamed up with Mordo :mjlol:

sir, don't you see "Done with Marvel" Gang having full discussions off of a rumor tweet? The MCU is rolling strong. :wow:
I made the mistake of posting something from one of those “scoopers” only to look like a fool in return. Never again.

If it ain’t coming from the trades, I don’t want it.
