i'm not sure what distinction you are trying to make but let me clarify. indigenous americans include people in north, central and south america. they had territory in what eventually became considered the mexican empire which is now the western US. this is why a lot of mexicans who take a dna test will come back with a percentage of "native american".

So if we are determining citizenship going by ancestry and lineage, some mexicans would be entitled to be citizens of the states.
