rather than focusing on some crowd reaction with SANTA CLAUS the GOAT had, why don't you pay attention to how good that promo was. :whew:

lol @ ignoring all the signs and shirts in the crowd.

People were sitting on their hands breh. Ken Shamrock outpopped Austin big that night

Yeah... this is hindsight commentary at best.

Austin was so over in '97 that it was pretty much decided by that summer that he was gonna be the new top guy by the next Mania. So any talk about a weak pop on a Santa Claus segment featuring a kid who looks like he might be one of the Usos is null and void. Let's see that clip from three months earlier at Madison Square Garden, or SummerSlam '97, or any match vs. Bret from '97, or any time he stunned someone.

Austin was coming off a run as a brutal heel. Face turns are hard to pull off as is, double turns harder. Pretty big pop, probably not what most of us remember him for though. Kind of like those TNA Hogan pops :scusthov::to:

I don't even see why this ONE isolated segment is being used as proof that Austin wasn't getting pops tho'. Of course he wasn't getting the same level of pops he got once he was THE #1 man, but he was already the most popular wrestler that year by the time this segment happened, so...

Of course once the McMahon shyt really started up and ESPECIALLY the Tyson/Mania shyt, he was blowing the roof off... that's usually what happens when someone becomes as popular as he became. I just don't see how this one clip "proves" he wasn't already over as fukk by then.

Anyone can take a pick and choose a couple videos to prove someone wasn't over. That's silly. But you clearly didn't live it because from late 1996 on Austin got huge pops regularly.

You're more than welcome to drop vids to prove that

:usure: Sting, Hogan, HBK, Flair, Taker,

In '97...

Sting was prob. the only one as popular as Austin, but he didn't wrestle the whole damn year. So no.

Hogan was a heel. So no.

HBK was "injured", then mildly popular, then walked out, then came back and turned heel. So no.

Flair was mostly inactive. So no.

Taker was getting outppopped by Austin regularly and despite having the title for 5 months was the #2 most popular face in the company. So no.

What's the :comeon: about? So none of that is true?

Or is this a TSC version of a Wacky D thread or somethin'... because if you were watching in '97, or even if you went back and watched more than this particular skit, Austin was over as all hell even when he wasn't wrestling due to the injury. Do the knowledge, it's there for you to see.

Im saying you cant just dismiss the wrestlers like you did. Hogan & Sting were the 2 most popular wrestlers in all of wrestling in 97.

I ain't dismissed shyt... I said it like it happened. Hogan is always popular of course, but he was a heel in '97.True or not? Sting was over but he didn't wrestle a match until the end of the year, true? But overall, and especially in WWF, Austin was the most popular.
