You are right, that highway system is ugly :picard:

Hope they get some help. Haven't been on a highway that terrible since I lived in Orlando with I-4...

Will only drive through there in the middle of the night now. That's the only time you can coast through.
You visited or do you drive trucks? 35 is a shythole. Very little room to expand/add lanes.

I visited a few times before I had to drive a truck through there. My sister lived out there with her ex-husband for a little bit. I had time when I visited, but not when I drove that tanker through there. From Houston to MIdland......I'm glad I chose to go through there in the middle of the night, even though I was struggling to stay awake and deer were out heavy.

That's a unique thing about Austin. Just a few miles outside the city center and it can get really rural. The development of the suburbs is still catching up to the city.

When I was out there for college, you could still find a 1-bedroom for $600 not too far from downtown. But that was 10 years ago. I'm sure it's doubled now.

I left in 2016. Rent in West Campus was 1100 for a studio. 1.5k for a one bedroom in an old apartment complex. UT is trash for not trying to get advocate for rent control.

The voters voted for Prop A in November which was was the last hurdle to start the light-rail project. They'll have lines from the airport to downtown and a few neighboring areas. But if these companies keep moving to ATX, the city will have light rail going everywhere. They got to fully embrace it because the highway system sucks and there's not much land to improve them.
Had no idea Austin was going for a Subway. I knew about the light rail.

I voted for Prop a. At this point we have to accept austin was designed for a small city and transitioning to a big one. We need outside the box solutions

I do go down to houston, look around and go :damn: at the road systems and highways. Built to support a bigger population no doubt.
