Masters left, there was the opportunity to develop the character. Hotshotting the title like that was terrible. Drake looks like a chump, and Aries is champ, having good matches, but not drawing money, or moving the needle. TNA still has no guy not viewed as a WWE castoff. Drake, especially after the last round of departures, is the last TNA guy with anything going for him.

Imo, the whole change in admin and supposed heat from drake created why his run was made with no attention to real quality or detail.
They dropped the ball A long time ago during the admin changes on Eli. This whole run with the strap I was only on board cause it was drake. Yet the whole admin and direction change shyt hurt drake's title run. Imo, he should be fine if allowed to be Eli drake.

Dude is holding 4 world championships

Why do indy companies feel the need to over compensate when someone leaves the WWE

Theoretically it helps them fill seats, but it only appeals to the casual that doesn't really check for it every week. It's a cheap cash in move. What it does is lower the credibility for the product amongst those that actually check for it every week, and also indirectly acknowledges that the other company is superior.

The WWE does this from time to time with actors and part timers and they usually get booed unless it's the Rock, because it's a slap in the face to those who actually put in work week to week. I'm surprised that more former wrestlers/prospective wrestlers don't become actors and use the WWE as a side hustle cuz Vince places much more of a premium on those guys.
