I never said it was that kinda mischaracterization. There not opposing in the sense that both words describe slaves that are fully indoctrinated into the plantation society, the level of their indoctrination varied that's what I'm tryna say. Some slave could be the sambo which is exactly what the master would prefer, but a c00n could be both genuine and deliberate as a subtle means of protest. I'm just saying that the word didn't just describe people that did the go along to get along thing, some families didn't get broken up and felt running away might be too much too risk so they behaved in a manner that was purposely spiteful towards the master in a more subtle way, this was all the slaves had aside from religion. My point is it's not that simple when it comes to that word.
To claim folks are using it wrong, would demand it be a mischaracterization. Not a subtle difference between two descriptions that sole purpose was to depict black folks in a negative light
Unless subtle protest meant spiking that muddafawka's drink with poison, how does c00n and sambo does not ultimately become, go-along to get along?
Talking under your breath about the master, all while the other similar meanings of sambo are applied to a c00n, does not make a difference in word usage
On the hamster, I ignorantly and incorrectly asked asians, what was the equivalent word they used for "uncle toms"? One poster replied and said bananas or coconuts....yellow/brown on the outside, white on the inside. I used the wrong word, but he/she still understood what I meant
Had I properly asked, what was the equivalent word they used for "sambo" or "c00n," I don't think I would be ignorantly and incorrectly using the words because of the subtle differences
