Negative. Fact is the youth love it. Problem is older people hate the youth because they are young so they look for reasons to throttle them to feel better about their (perceived) wasted life. shyt is pathetic.

You see it on here alot.

Dudes will say they don't use tiktok in one sentence then then the next act like they know the entire story behind it. foh
I’m young and I don’t, as well as know, folks who don’t fw TikTok. I also got relatives 50+ who watch dog TikToks

You are an example of an exception wanting to be interpreted as the rule.

If you don't get my point it's actually a great thing but your situation isn't close to everybody else's.

No, it’s just your argument of “old man yells at the clouds” was fukking stupid

Old folks are on TikTok is my point, so that isn’t a reason for the disdain for it.

Read this in the Times yesterday. Also read the TokRush sorority story in August.

I think there is going to be a tightening of regulations against Tik Tok, but if you look historically, at social media/social network, what you always always see is a transfer to another app, and the other constant, is shortening. By the time regulators push back on ByteDance, people will have moved on, but to what? and is there a social media downturn coming

Facebook

Tik Tok
throw Twitter in there somewhere

what trend do you see with those? It gets smaller and smaller amounts of info/videos able to be consumed.

if you've ever been in bed with someone scrolling social media, to me, it was like staring into the void, it makes me panicked and I would get up and shower instantly. People have to see how numbing and compulsive that is. It's like a slot machine.

Reading stories, or posting long ass, relatively well thought out responses (like this) is entirely different.

Yep it being quick and fast to consume makes it more addictive. Plus the way many videos are set up (like many youtube clips) where you can't fast forward. So it forces you to watch the entire video. They truly made the app where you get instant gratification and because the clips are so short it makes you want to watch others because you assume the videos aren't long. But that is the catch the shortness and addictiveness gets you on the hook to watch more and more videos.

But my biggest issues with Tiktok and youtube is that it dumbs down folks. You can tell with young children how many of them are dumbed down because they watch so much youtube and Tiktok. There is a reason that in China they don't even allow their public to see ignorant shyt on Tiktok and other forms of social media.

Facebook can go like MySpace cause that generation that grew up on those apps are grown and only post family shyt. The new generation has it but does not use it that much like tik tok and Snapchat. Twitter is its own different animal cause you can get fast news and new topic trending everyday thanks to blacks people that is. Tumble killed itself with taking off porn so nobody uses it like that instead of getting rid of all the pedo stuff

How much value be lost if social media disappeared tomorrow?

Serious question.

Social media isn’t all bad. But what are the pros vs cons of this?

Do you think it’s a net positive or net negative?
The modern advertising industry would collapse. Small bussinesses who rely almost entirely on facebook, twitter , instagram, tiktok, etc to reach customers will collapse. Pensions and mutual funds would collapse cause they too are invested in social media firms. Global recession in less than one week.

Society is way too embedded with social media for us to shut it down. They move way too much money in our economy.

Itd be like asking, “what’s the worst that could happen if humans had no blood vessels?” :troll:

Advertising and marketing ruins everything on earth.

I challenge anyone to argue differently.

YouTube: great
YouTube with ads: terrible

Baseball stadium: great
Baseball stadium with ads everywhere: terrible

New York City: great
New York City with ads everywhere (Times Square): terrible
