Right now, Atlantic — which has made it through decades with many generations of hits — is in trouble. They have just two albums in the top 50 — Charlie XCX’s “Brat” and the “Twisters” soundtrack.

Mainstay artists like Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars have not been releasing music. At the same time, Atlantic has not been developing new artists.

Hits says the label’s biggest mistake was a $400 million investment in something called 300 Entertainment. 300 — which is all hardcore rap artists — has produced no hits and no real names.

Yep people paying attention to “beef” while this is what they’ve been trying to divert attention from. It’s about to get ugly. The labels are in trouble.

Worth nothing that Shereen has been on his tour since 2022 and it doesn't end until September...2025. Each of his last few albums have been less successful than the last and there doesn't seem to be much direction or focus on further developing his career beyond just being the guy who does massive arena tours around the world. Meanwhile Bruno Mars hasn't released a solo album since 2016 and has also been stuck doing massive tours.

You'd think that the label that spawned the band that created the music tour industry as we know it today (Led Zeppelin) would understand that you have to pay your artists to get off the road and record big albums every few years. Massive, long ass tours often lead to artists becoming disillusioned with music.

Sounds like Lyor got over on them. Wasn't he the one who sold 300 to them?

300 is Kevin Liles' money pit.

He's been running the company for years, on the back of mad 360 deals and just basic music business shadiness. Thing is, Atlantic was doing the exact same, but they wanted to tap into 300's "urban" roster to profit, but none of the garbage they had onboard could move any units. So now all the devils are stuck with the bullsh*t they created. All the f*cked up sh*t they did at Def Jam is coming back to haunt them in karma. Serves them all right. Let them drown.
