The topic of aging rappers is an interesting one because they really the running backs of the music industry. Most average at best four/five years of relevancy, if they're lucky they get into TV or movies (maybe not Are You There Yet 5 but you get what I mean). But the streets don't pay and neither does rap.

Reminded of a couple lines from Jigga's Dig a Hole:

Everybody know you better, you in a lose lose
Cause even when you win, ultimately you lose

That shyt ain't what Al is about, the management side of things. He has the natural talent as an artist but not as a manager. Giving away the game to that YWA had him in a lose lose situation. Even tho his YMA won that Grammy, he died, Al lost that meal ticket, and got no recognition for his contribution for said Grammy. Even though he won, ultimately he lost.

The only thing I could gather from that episode was that Earn is going against the tide and Al is leaning into it
I'm pretty conviced Paper Boi gonna die. All these foreshadowing with rapper's deaths.
Same. Now that you mention it I think this season is also confirming that both are depressed. Earn at least has some purpose with Van and Lottie but Al really don't have shyt but the fame and he hates everything about it. Even management had him :beli: Not sure how he pulls the plane up. Not talking suicide but I don't think he'd exactly be mad at dying.

Damn this this was dark now that I fleshed it out :picard:

The award presenters at the end were the Black kid and white woman who pulled the gun on him on her porch.

Likely paid him off and had him appear with her at the event as a PR stunt.

White America playing us and staying in power.....just like with Paper Boi

Manager 2 (very clearly a breh from his voice): "Or we can put out crime data from that neighborhood to show she was in the right trying to defend herself." :mjpls: :dead:

The "Are you prepared In the event of a Crisis" checklist on the door in "D'Angelo's" office:

That little Benny mothafukka with the "bet" after snatching his phone from Al and walking away. :dead: They wrote those YWA's with the perfect avatar dialogue. The dialogue, accents, and voice imitations :gucci: Done perfectly. Just like Chet Hanks in Trini 2 De Bone and that little kid, Sebastian. They were imitating the lingo, the accent, and in Hanks' case, the voice, which they picked up from Sylvia. Same shyt was happening with these YWA's stealing they aura from the black rappers.

Yodel Kid's song was called "Born to Die," but the episode was titled "Born 2 Die," which echos "Trini 2 De Bone," like I just mentioned and also in a previous comment.

I didn't catch that :ohhh:., just Yodel Kid's girl accepting the award.

Bunk was right about the shelf life for a rapper being so fast :wow:

Someone gotta explain to me the whole point of the dangelo references/scene. Like eating a chicken skin/peanut butter sammich for no reason?
:gucci:

Where they trying to make fun of him or something, because I missed it.

Not sure what Dangelo did recently to even make into an episode :jbhmm:

Not sure but in general DAngelo represents real music.
Not the gimmick stuff for money that Paperboi does.
