The VRA wasn't removed. The DOJ preclearance requirements for those certain states and municipalities that had an established history of black vote suppression when it was implemented was struck down. The DOJ can still intervene and sue at their discretion if they see discriminatory voting laws going on. It's just after they are passed now in those certain states and municipalities, just like everywhere else as opposed to mandatory review before any voting changes are made (preclearance). The SCOTUS ruling stated that the states and municipalities that fall under the preclearance requirement is based on outdated info, and left it open for Congress to create a new preclearance policy.
Poll taxes, literacy tests, property requirements, personality tests and all the fukkery they used to suppress the black vote back in the days is still illegal.
They're trying desperate shyt like voter ID laws and shortening voter hours but so far, it's backfired. Trying to suppress the black vote in such a brazen and transparent way only makes people more determined to vote. You saw the voting lines in Dade county in 2008.
