i tried in tlr but of course i'm not getting a real response

i've been off church for so long it feels like now, but i gotta admit, i really do miss the whole fellowship aspect of it... lately i been finding myself wanting to go somewhere... i just don't want all the bullshyt and dogma that usually comes with it :comeon: i stumbled across them and it seems pretty cool from the onset, being the progressive/humanistic type

i still got my reservations though :whoa: if you've been or go to one, what's your experience? i'll be trying one out soon but i wanted to hear any opinions there might be first.

Just go fellowship with God and be in the arms of his flock. Atheists dont really like one another enough to fellowship which is why so many of them dont have a lot of real friends.

the fukk is unitarian universalism? sounds as stupid as the religion you left. Get some friends or something. Hang out with them.

Go for it.... out of everything it's the least risky, plus it never hurts to learn about new things and grow yourself spiritually.

I used to sorta be this. I practiced Buddism, tried some other meditation types sh1t, I took all sorts of religious classes to the point that I became a certified Christian Family Counselor.

lol, and I'm Muslim.

With Unitarian universalism you wont be criticized for ur beliefs, because there isn't any - there is the just the constant search for wisdom and meaning - you can be atheist and do this.

You can do this with Friends, friend.

yeah like i said, i got my reservations, but still... belief isn't ALL their is to religion. did you grow up (devoted) in a church at all breh? :usure: there's a spiritual side you just can't get by simply hanging with friends, feeling connected to something deeper/beyond just you... its really fulfilling. i find the belief part stupid too, but i think its the spiritual side that people are really attracted by and they just struggle/are too scared to separate the two. the idea of linking up with people with all kinds of different backgrounds/beliefs is pretty :blessed: to me and i'm hoping it is, but we'll see. you don't think so???

it's church for people that like community and largely left-leaning sociopolitics and don't like rhetoric

sounds like you'd enjoy it based on your posts

check it out. some perspective: it was founded by descendants of puritans, so in many ways it's a cross-generational peaceful backlash against stringent religious social values

depending on where you live, and if you want just a little more jesus than the U-U's provide, you could check out some quaker meetings too and come away pretty happy

oh please believe i've smoked PLENTY weed... just quit about a month ago :sadcam: but fukk a damn drum circle

ya'll seriously don't get where i'm coming from though? i'm starting to think this is what religions have in common more than anything, not the belief in 'god(s)', but the attempt to feel more connected with one another and for some, the world at large. i can't find anything wrong with THAT... its when you start saying "this is what you're supposed to do, this is where you'll go if you don't, my faith calls on me to do ____" that it turns to bullshyt

I've never heard of what you're talking about...sounds to me like you need friends.

Or a hobby / passion. You have a void to fill so I'd recommend filling it with something that could be beneficial to yourself and the rest of humanity.

Go volunteer at a soup kitchen.

it just seems like something you can find in many 'social activities'. you have to find something you enjoy doing with other people. then it's also on you to 'let go' and allow yourself to feel that way about the activity

:heh: dudes in here trying to re-program OP

he said he misses the communal aspect of church but not the dogma attached, so he's interested in a church that provides the former and skips the latter

i say your only mistake @ciroq drobama is asking the coli about this instead of just checkin it out yourself. go for it breh

i really dont like church and communal stuff that goes with it annoys me btw, if that qualifies my endorsement
