Umm, children born of incestuous parents are only 3-4% likely to have birth defects, compared to 1-2% from those born from non-closely related parents.

There is no logical/evolutionary reason barring siblings from sexual behavior.

But yeah, I made this same argument as a kid, and it's been brought up several times on here. People have no idea why they believe things, they just go along with whatever they're told are right and wrong and KIM. There may be a circumstance where an incestious relationship could not possibly produce offspring ... is it still "wrong"? If so, why? Should we keep others from practicing in such activities because you personally find it disgusting? I don't know, but that alone doesn't sound like a great argument to me.

And to Chris, depending on how you define an 'atheist society', there may have been/ may be successful societies that exist.

if incest didn't produce such evolutionarily bad results, then there would be no logical reason to bar two consenting adults who happen to be siblings from engaging in sexual behavior

Incest was banned because its disgusting. What Krauss was explaining was why we find it disgusting and why almost every human society has banned it. Its banned because incestual relationships produce children with genetic defects.

Krauss simply said that if incest didn't produce children with genetic defects, then there would be no logical reason to ban two consenting adults from marrying one another.

I may not be using my mind... so be cautious.

But evolution isn't solely about physically good results or evolutionary bad results from birth.

There is a reason men look the way they do and women think, behave, and rationalize the way they do. There are certain traits and behaviors that are most beneficial to social animals.

Considering human being are social animals, I would say these atheist are perverted fukks. There are "logical reasons to bar" two consenting adults who happen to be siblings from causing each others juices to flow. First off, your social instincts and sympathies naturally are drawn toward people of ur same community and culture... this is why we are successful. Community and Families is what evolution and human common sense has told us is most effective in keeping our species progressive. There are current liberal progressive ideas about these things that are biological and socially regressive.. but we attach labels of 'new age, and 'progressive' to them, so it verbally brainwashes us to go a way from the moral virtues that has made us successful. NTM it isn't all about birth defects retards. A limited gene pool is something that every organism on earth stays away from if they can help it. Our brains and bodies have changed so much in the last 20K years... and that's because most men aren't fukking their mothers or sisters - U sick fukks.

Also, If you're atheist you should be the main people saying the opposite of what these perverts are stating.
