let me spin this on youIf you are an atheist, what is the point, if any, of planning a funeral for your future demise, or attending that of your loved ones as funerals have it's origins and foundation as religious ceremony?
Do you have rituals for processing of the body (attire, cleansing, makeup etc) or is it donated to science?
Is cremation a preferable method because of the religious connotations associated with burial? Are the ashes kept in a jar or is it discarded?
Does the idea of "paying your respects" to a lifeless body seem rather irrational to an atheist as no known conception of a spirit or afterlife is celebrated within atheist circles?
Please provide valid reasons as to why an atheist would attend or would prefer for themselves a funeral.
Yea because everyone makes it into heavenlet me spin this on you
why do christians cry at funerals, knowing that their loved one is in heaven? shouldnt they be jumping for joy?
Yea because everyone makes it into heaven
Someone whos loved one died from a double murder suicideWell who at a funeral is thinking their loved one went to hell?
Someone whos loved one died from a double murder suicide
Someone whos loved one died from a double murder suicide
Isn't that what a funeral is, a religious ceremony? You think people only have funerals because of religion? Like a city full of atheists would just leave their dead in the streets because why bother, there is no god? You can't be serious....
Pretty sure funerals aren't a christian/religious invention. I swear man.
We even have native american burial grounds FYI.
Obviously. Thinking already implies I have an idea about the answer. Try thinking sometimes, it works.Nah man. He thinks he already has all the answers. A true idiot ... sad, really.
Obv it is. The concept of an afterlife came well before christianity. Are you truly implying that Native's regards to death and preparation of the body is not based on their view of the afterlife?
Why attend a funeral if you don't believe in it's necessity in preparing the body for an afterlife?
Try thinking sometimes, it works.
