If you are an atheist, what is the point, if any, of planning a funeral for your future demise, or attending that of your loved ones as funerals have it's origins and foundation as religious ceremony?
Do you have rituals for processing of the body (attire, cleansing, makeup etc) or is it donated to science?
Is cremation a preferable method because of the religious connotations associated with burial? Are the ashes kept in a jar or is it discarded?
Does the idea of "paying your respects" to a lifeless body seem rather irrational to an atheist as no known conception of a spirit or afterlife is celebrated within atheist circles?
Please provide valid reasons as to why an atheist would attend or would prefer for themselves a funeral.
