To my understanding it was a term black folks used for sex and black spirituals.When chuck berry and little richard started getting invited to perform for white audiences. As I understand it both of them started out as rhythm and blues artist , even though it may have *sounded* like what we label rock and roll now.

Nothing. You cant control distribution and thus you dont control the source of the content.
