At what point did Scorpion become more popular than Sub Zero?

i always liked scorpion over sub zero but for some reason i couldn't put in the type of work with him that i did with sub zero..i was killin nikkas with sub zero and later jax..my brother mastered scorpion though and used to give me Ls constantly

Ask someone who doesn't play mortal kombat if they know scorpion or sub zero and I bet most will know sub zero.

While MK: Mythologies my favorite MK title next to Shaolin Monks, Scorpion has always been the series' 'Ryu'. Everyone knows Scorpion.

Sub Zero is Ryu, Scorpion is Ken. Clear as day.

Yeah but in terms of each team's dynamic, Shawn was presented as the 1a role. He was more "normal", more level-headed, older, etc. Marlon was 1b, the alternative version, not as even-keeled as Shawn but often more fun. Thats Ken/Scorpion status to a tee.

And yeah, a lot of people prefer the alternative
