Exercise (running, stretching, jiu jitsu, weight lifting) is something I do for fun it is not my tool for weight loss.

A cat I know fell in love with rowing. He obsesses over it. He has rowing shirts, he read stories and watches movings about it, he's looked up and completed training regimens and exercises. He's lost about 80lbs. I'll see if I can get some pics with his face blurred out (I'll have to ask him personally). But it's something he loves. He doesn't care about the look or even the weight loss, those just happen to be the caveats of being into it. He doesn't diet but he eats according to what he's going to do, whether it's a sprint or a long session.

It was something he tried once and he was hooked and it works for him. He's probably been doing it for close to 2 years now.

I've made a few threads in this sub forum about my struggles with weight loss. Just thought I'd post an update to show it's possible. A lot of times I was drunk posting on here so I tend to shy away from threads I've made.

January of this year I'm finally getting sober. I'm coming up on 10 months sober. That journey is it's own story. I had to be broken down completely, my cup had to be emptied, my spirit crushed to have room in my life for what was missing. The worst things that happened to me ended up being the best thing that could ever happen to me.

In relation to weight loss:

Started the year around 289. The biggest i got was 325. I'd never been that fat in my life. I couldn't even wipe my ass comfortably. I was sweating all the time.

Once the drinking stopped I thought the weight would just fall off and it sort of has but at a certain point it took a lot more focus on my part.

I had to re-think all my strategies for weight loss. My attitude towards exercise and healthier eating had to mature. No more going on extra runs to make up for overreating. The grind mode mentality had to go. That idea that I'm going to beat myself down and kill myself mentally and physically into a better physique became outdated. David Goggins is a huge inspiration for me but when it came to long term weight loss I found thinking that way was holding me back.

Today I take it easy. I make sure I track everything I eat, even if I over eat. I am following a ketogenic diet for now. Exercise (running, stretching, jiu jitsu, weight lifting) is something I do for fun it is not my tool for weight loss. I rarely push myself to exhaustion but I do keep showing up consistently.

Binge eating has also become something I accept. It's funny once I learned to be ok with it and keep going I stopped doing it. I'm just not as hard on myself anymore and it's paying off.

One day I hope I can help seriously overweight people overcome these barriers that hold them back from living a better life. I think there is a ton of misconceptions and misunderstanding and a lot of times people just don't know. Almost every family member I take to the gym with me doesn't know the first thing about exercise.

Anyway, just wanted to update. Hope you all have a blessed day. And good luck to whatever goals you guys are trying to accomplish.

Good shyt, you know what works now.
Double and triple down, your mind is your only limiter, you've proved that much.
