Special needs is too much of a blanket term. There are some with genuine special needs. Some are just straight up bad. And should automatically be in a specialized school for it. I contend one of the biggest reasons inner city schools are so bad is because they let these 5-10% of kids run wild and it brings everyone else down.
Imagine having a little mothafukka like this in class and he had an episode like this. Even if properly de-escalated, any productive learning is done for the day. And this kid probably had an episode a week.
My ex was a public school/charter school teacher and one of her best friends was one of those IEP teachers/assistants. All her job was, was to watch the kid and get shyt thrown at her and cussed at all day. In normal class with everyone else. Not sure how you can efficiently and progressively learn in that environment. She was all of 5'1 and 115 pounds too.
