I posed this in the upped gun control thread, and dont feel like typing it again:

I own a STAG-15:

do I need it? no

Is it a bit much? perhaps...

Why do I have it? I'm a combat veteran, been shooting for years, and still enjoy going to the range. I also have it for peace of mind. If shyt ever goes down that results in mass looting/violence, I know my family will be protected. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Do I think gun laws need to be stricter? Yes. I know I'm well trained, and competent enough to keep it fully secured, but I don't have nearly as much faith in the majority of Americans. If they do decide to ban assault weapons the only thing that I'm concerned about is money. that bytch was expensive :damn: How they gon' handle that? I know they aint bout to give me a full refund :sadcam: But, ultimately I'm a law abiding citizen and will comply with whatever the government decides.

my question is this....if they end up banning assault rifles would it just be future sales? how could they even go about removing them from society? if they just forced you to turn it in with no compensation how would you react?

Federal Assault Weapons Ban - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

During the period when the AWB was in effect, it was illegal to manufacture any firearm that met the law's flowchart of an assault weapon or large capacity ammunition feeding device, except for export or for sale to a government or law enforcement agency. The law also banned possession of illegally imported or manufactured firearms, but did not ban possession or sale of pre-existing 'assault weapons' or previously factory standard magazines that were legally redefined as large capacity ammunition feeding devices. This provision for pre-ban firearms created a higher price point in the market for such items, which still exist due to several states adopting their own assault weapons ban.

Gun restrictions don't work. It's like the drug trade. As drugs are pushed out of the market by the DEA, the value of drugs go up and more people are drawn to the game. It's like pushing on one side of balloon and the the other side will pop up. And what I mean by value, is, wouldn't you like to be the only one on earth owning a Ak so you can do whatever you want? I'm sure a lot of people do to, thats why they'll buy AKs no matter the cost..

Why did they work so well in other countries though? Why are we so hung up on having these type of weapons?

Maybe you should read some history books. The founding fathers of this country saw how much being disarmed put them at a disadvantage in europe.

There are over 60 million guns in europe. The ban is on paper, not in real life. Germany buys as many guns as Americans. You dont put a bandaid on a slit throat.

Who said anything about being disarmed. Im talking about assault rifles. You can protect yourself and your property without an assault rifle and high capacity magazines.

The founding fathers wrote that 2nd amendment for citizens to protect themselves against the government. I think we are well past the point where citizens need to seriously arm themselves against a hostile government takeover. And if the government wanted to take your shyt you and your assault rifle wouldnt mean a damn thing against what our military has.

Yeah you are right. Our need to protect ourselves against a hostile government takeover that will most likely never happen supersedes the need to get these dangerous weapons out of the hands of people who commit horrific mass murders numerous times a year.

Do you think the public should be able to purchase fully automatic machine guns? I should be able to have a minigun in my backyard?

Those same people will still get those same weapons on the black market y'all need to reevaluate your security and your people's mental health and stop trying to find simple solutions by making guns your scapegoats.
