I recall a Rogue. I didn't play it but saw the first half hour of gameplay. It seemed more like a stop gap between Black Flag and Unity because of the new consoles. They tried that I don't think it sold well
As long as the story isn't written half-assedly it could be fine. I feel the Templars are just as important to understand as the Assassins are given that we're supposed to take at face value that there bad. Honestly the creation of The Hidden Ones was a fluke. If Bayek didn't decide to put in work the Templars would have gone ahead unimpeded. That doesn't technically count since Shay was an Assassin in origin. He's more of a traitor than an actual Templar. Even the beginning parts of ACIII with Haytham were more Templar-centric and executed better too.
Besides, playing as a Templar doesn't work with the open-world formula since it doesn't go with the Templar's philosophy or their way of doing things. A true Templar game would require a complete gameplay overhaul (essentially a new game entirely) to even view things from their "perspective".

It does count. Shay was an assassain for bout 5 minutes then joined the Templars..
Assassins Rogue was so slept onBayek is done I feel. He served his purpose in the story and I think Altair did the same.
I'm almost certain Layla is sticking around another game or two given the modern day bits at the end. They're also in the cave with Aya's mummy and Layla had mentioned being able to get memories from incomplete DNA so that opens up the possibility for a few more missions with Aya/Amunet if they don't make that DLC for Origins. Also the modern day parts said they're going to Alexandria so we might get them pulling up some Greek assassins or something.
I kind of would like the assassins to find some Templar DNA so we can see things from their side. Clearly they've been scheming since before the assassins were created. If Ubisoft was really trying to run game on us they'd alternate years on Templars and assassins, but that's just how I feel
how i felt playing watch dogs 2 as well... Ubisoft wonI'm really having a blast with this game. Sort of surprised it is this good.
