This is THE REASON I taught my offspring how to swim when they were toddlers. Just in case one day if they're at a pool party, near a pool or a fukkin lake and some a$$hole thinks it'll be funny to push them in the water, they'll know how to survive.

Not knowing how to sim is just crazy to me. Not knowing how to swim and hanging out in a lake is even crazier. Doing it with a bunch of white people is the oracle of crazy.

Shyts ridiculous, we did foul shyt as a kid and pushing somebody in the water is not that bad. What’s fking bad that after about 10 seconds of laughter the fking bell would ring in your head saying o shyt he can’t swim we got to get him. They were willing to let that man drown, they definitely tried to kill the brother. Like what the fk, he’s clearly struggling and they talking about 10 - 20 minutes o hell they ass need to riot in jail.

Is that really true though? I'm curious. I actually did take swimming lessons at the Y as a kid...wasn't great at it but I could do enough not to drown.
But I haven't actually been swimming in like 10 years, I have no idea if I still know how
The key to not drowning is relaxing, since your body as breh said, instictvely knows how to tread water and keep afloat.
Even without the knowledge/skills, finding out that you're already capable of buoyancy is something your brain/body gets accumulated with the moment you realize that you can float on your stomach or back with little to no effort, thus keeping you afloat and away from going under once you're cognizant off what's keeping you afloat and how you're achieving it.
That's why I tell people, even if you find yourself in a situation where you're in the water and you can't swim. Put yourself on your back and keep calm/breathe. Act like driftwood and you'll find yourself floating with your head above water, wasting minimal energy that you'll need to get yourself out of the situation you found yourself in.
Hitting the water, you'll recollect what you learnt, similar to riding a bike, as improbable as it may sound.

Glad you did. It's a vital skill. Even if you don't go into lakes or pools or rivers, there's always a chance there will be a flood and you'll have to swim. I remember watching the Katrina documentary in the late 2000s, and a lady on there was stranded and heard her neighbor crying for help, but couldn't help because she couldn't swim. My brother got stomped out by some cacs at a cac bar around LSU campus. nikka had to cut his braids off to get stiches and shyt. nikkas got to realize the devil ain't your friend and they will show out if they got the numbers
