I've browsed many forums that have been littered with terrible car audio advice

Now I'm here to help

I first installed a stereo at 14 with my dad and been hooked since.

I work IT full time and some time consult at a high end shop out here in NYC

Looking to upgrade sound? Want to better your current set up? What to know current deals?

Ask away..

how often can an improper install lead to a short in a car?

i swear ive checked everything and im starting to think the short is coming from when my system was installed a few months ago.

Very often

just having a power wire not fused can lead to a short..or worse, a fire. Have you had someone look over it?

What's a reasonable price to have an in dash navi/radio screen installed?

Any custom fabrication have to be done to get it installed?

If so, 300+

If not, 250ish

Is Dynamat really good at decreasing exterior noise? Is there a generic substitute that's cheaper and as good?

How do you install tweeters in your car when your car doesn't have them. I usually see them where the mirrors are in nice cars, but I've never had a nice car. How do you get the wires from the car to the door? Or do you mount them to the dash or A-pillar?
I'm a DIY person but I've only replaced a deck and speakers with stuff I bought through Crutchfield. They had directions and wiring kit all set.

Second skin & sounddeadenershowdown is better & a lot cheaper

As far as tweets go, you'd have them fiberglassed into the a pillars then snake the cable through the door boot

You can also go the pod route http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum...justable-easily-replaceable-tweeter-pods.html
