In my 30s

Janet been around since the 80s and has dropped close to 12 albums I believe ...Bey 6 solo...If Janet was such a different animal one would think Bey would be lagging way behind in sales, especially considering Janet in her prime didnt have to worry about nikkas illegally downloading her music and spotify didnt exist

When you make the argument Bey music is more catered to women it's funny because a lot of women I know argue her music is male centered and she is a "pick me"... imo her music is not that different than a Janet or Mariah content wise

Not saying she would win but this idea she isnt a worthy opponent is very debatable

@spliz is correct

for some reason Beyoncé’s music, especially over time, doesn’t seem accessible to men whereas acts like Janet, Mary & Toni Braxton never had that issue. It’s the reason why any comparisons they would ever try to draw between MJ & Beyonce was laughable because there was seemingly a huge audience Beyoncé’s music simply wasn’t connecting with...that being straight men

How the fukk would Bey body Janet but not Rihanna when Janet bodies both? Are y’all fukking nuts?? Lol. Yo I’m off this shyt. People crazy as fukk out here.
Lol, every time this argument happens I have to :snooze:

I guess DC was it for some people, to me they were a second rate group that benefitted from all the other girls groups being irrelevant by the time they hit their stride.

SWV, Xscape, En Vogue, TLC >>>> DC

DC catalog ain’t saving Bey and her comically weak discography pales in comparison to people like Mariah, Janet, Mary, erykah

because men can relate more too Janet Toni and Mary
It’s the theme or lyrical content too it
I followed Beyoncé from day 1 and I followed Janet mary and Toni and I just click more with the other 3 and there songs seem timeless too me

I feel Beyoncé work like her 1st album if she stayed that route would of benefitted her more

Look y’all. Beyoncé is great n all but her strong suit has always been her work ethic, performance, and her anthems. She don’t got a bunch of classic albums n shyt like that. That’s never been her strong suit. She don’t have a Control, a Rhythm Nation, etc etc. just no. Lol

Is this just based on your opinion and Coli daps? Lol

Maybe she doesnt have classics to you but Lemonade, which won a peabody, is more acclaimed than any Janet album

Like I said earlier most her content isnt any different than other rnb/pop female artist

She has records for the ladies like Janet (i.e. Nasty Boy) ...and records everyone can enjoy and relate to like Love On Top, Deja Vu, Party, Speechless

And this idea straight men dont listen to Bey is over blown

I know straight men who listen to her

My brother for instance is a fan. He loves her voice. Or his words " her voice is sexy as hell"

We just had a topic of whether or not Em’s music got played in the hood. Some said for a time & lots said no.

Point being?

If something isn’t the general consensus then there’s some sort of validity to the argument. That point isn’t something I made up or any other poster made up here either.

nikkac ain’t making up shyt for the sake of it

who the hell (ie every day fans) quotes peabody awards in music? TPAB was kendrick's most acclaimed work and isn't most people's favorite...critical acclaim and how audiences receive things aren't always connected - word to all the classic black comedy films that got shytted on critically but are staples in the community

lemonade is one of the most overrated albums ever, people are just gassed bey let the mask down...women were excited that even someone as accomplished and bad as bey couldn't have the perfect marriage, and folks were gassed at her riding the fake woke train. the music on that album is :trash: shyt was disgusting, women sitting aroud having lemondae parties crying over their sorry nikkas because beyonce released some dirt...i will give beyonce high five for how much mind control she has over her fans

yes, this is truly groundbreaking - janet, madonna, rih, kelis and countless other women never made a song like this...:aicmon:
