As a sampler myself, I will have to say he is the GOAT...You can make an entire album sampling the instrumental intro of "Walk On By"...
Curtis Mayfield tho.....
curtis mayfield and barry white are my favorite artists. they are tied as not only my favorite musicians and artists but as the greatest imo
i always find myself goin' back to their work; listenin' and studyin' what they did with their music
i always keep super fly (along with the rest of his 70's run of albums) and barry's greatest hits and love unlimited (orchestra too) in heavy rotation. the way those guys wrote, produced, arranged for their music as well as others; barry for his love unlimited group and curtis for the impressions, the staple singers and aretha franklin was astonishin'
i mean, this is just unbelievable
isaac hayes was somethin' else
he did a lot of great work for stax records as a session player and then as a solo artist. the hot buttered soul album, black moses album, and shaft soundtrack are landmark albums in music history
he was a very gifted musician and artist.
i could go on and on about how talented he was but instead i post one of my favorite songs by him. everythin' about this song is just perfect
I dont seduce enough women to be a hardcore Barry White fan
But yeah I have mad respect for him along with love unlimited.
BlackStreet sampled this record which was produced by The Neptunes.
Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards pretty much built Bad Boy Records. Diddy had so much of Chic records sampled plus records Nile Rodgers produced for others like David Bowie.
Willie Hutch is up there too.
