I heard this is why Jude and Sancho were on the outside for team selection. Them playing in Germany was a deciding factor.

Can someone explain to me:

1. Why that would matter?
2. Why English brehs refuse to go overseas even when the development opportunity might be greater?

As standard bias, we go with what we know.

It's Southgate's responsibility to scout everyone wherever the are playing but English players always get shine because they play in the UK and because the Premier League teams have been doing quite well in Europe the last couple of years.

It's more credit to Sancho that his skill has caught the eye of Southgate, but unless he is the next Messi, the player in the UK who is close to his skill level will get the nod.

English players as much as we may think aren't as world class as we think. Out side of Sterling, Kane and eventually Saka, who would get into a top European squad?

Even sterling struggled for playing time in Man city this year

All I'm saying is that Sancho better have a great game because people have been clamouring for this too much. :manny:

The three teams that have qualified for the semis thus far have all played their first three games at home, yall think that has something to do with it :jbhmm:

Maybe, but teams that knew that the better they performed in qualifying, the better chance they'd have at hosting 3 group games. :manny: Too bad for Germany and Netherlands.
