i think it helped ad in the long run as it never fell off, same as when chappelle left the chappelle show...yeah they pushed an extra season but the original two are classic...we got pretty much five star quality episodes for three solid seasons out of AD with some of the best writing in sitcom history...

AD won all those awards and they give it one last chance by putting it up against monday night football at least keep it after simpsons 2) The material probably went over a lot of peoples heads. You have to remember that networks cater to the general public. This is why shows like jersey shore are so successful yet great shows like AD get canceled

Its sad how terrible those rating were when it originally aired. I can't really hate on the decision to cancel the show but I do agree that they should have given it a better time slot. Looking back, it is kind of crazy what Fox was doing during that time.

Within 4 years they cancelled Arrested Development, Futurama, and Family Guy.

The writers are genius for all the hidden shyt they throw in there. Stuff in the background....putting in lil subtle things that you don't really pay attention to and then it turns out to be something that ties in to a story later on.

I love AD

I can't count how many times I've watched the series through but I'm always catching new stuff, if it's something the characters do or even something in the background. Even Maeby's name is a joke and a play on her being adopted. The show was such genius.

The show got canceled for a number of reasons. Lets face facts, majority of Americans are fukking idiots and the show went over their heads. Fox had NO IDEA how to promote this show. It really was the type of show you had to watch week in and week out to follow the story and understand who the characters were and what role they played. When the show was on the air my dad tried to start watching in the middle of the season but with so much going on he didn't think much of it or give it much of a chance. I told him it's really the type of show you have to watch from the beginning so I brought the DVD's over he started from the beginning 5-6 episodes in he was hooked and said it was one of the funniest shows he ever watched.
