He’s not doing tariffs at least not like he’s saying. Trump negotiates like a toddler. Threatens to nuke someone hoping they bow down without a fight. Then couples that with erratic behavior hoping people think he’s crazy enough to do it.

He’s an oligarch. His donors won’t let him wreck the economy.
According to project 2025 his people are pro tariff.

The ideologues have been losing. He’s been dumping campaign promises for a month and siding with the billionaires. Not saying he won’t do anything from Project 2025, but I think they’re going to have a much smaller influence than we thought.

Americans make high end things. Leave the widgets to other countries. Imagine paying somebody 17 dollars an hour to make a shirt you will sell to a whole seller for $2.
:skip:
fukk China. Put the pressure on them, but leave the Americas out of it. Incentivize companies to move their manufacturing to El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.
After four years, companies will have the infrastructure to produce there. People will have jobs and stop coming to America. Win win win.
:troll:
Sad thing is China has a shyt load of Mexican companies due to the last tariff war.

I would hope you are right, however for example, they could implement a tariff of $3, but charge us $5 worth and lie and say the tariff is $5 charge. This way the corporations make even more money

We’re putting contract language in our proposals now assuming that it will take place once the new administration comes in.
I’m in the industry as well. We buy bombardier parts.

Last year’s $500 screw is this years $800 screw. We just pass it to the tax payers i.e. US Army.

100%

Trump is so damn stupid, companies were reshoring and nearshoring without his input. If that was to ever work, Canada and central America was a big part of that. Americans don't want $25 strawberries and $50 t-shirts (we actually kinda do).

My company is starting to build the price increases into our products, fortunately our shyt is cheap CPG shyt, but you still gonna be annoyed when the 5-10 of our products you have in your crib now jump from $10 to $15.

The only reason why I can see he's doing this is one, he's a malignantly stubborn narcissist. But two, it's a deliberate wealth transfer and will drive income inequality even worse than it already is.

And they know it too, which is why I’ve been noticed that a lot of our customers have been asking for one year supplier quotes over the usual 6 months.

We were told to include pricing hypotheticals for now, which I know the business is going to bytch about as it will cut into their margins.
