I think the main problem of incels isn't their looks or that nobody wants them, but social awkwardness, meaning they have a hard time interacting with other people and especially the opposite sex. That can happen to both, men and woman. Although it is probably harder for men because men are expected to make the first move and take the lead in the interaction, so insecurity and social awkwardness make things more difficult for them.
