@Misreeya I feel her naiveness(I know its not a word) of black culture and struggle gets her in trouble...

Hello Kidstranglehold, i actually like you too, although i may disagree with your analysis at times pertaining to the history of the nile. Having said that, I am assuming the last thread dealing with the Somalis, which is the reasons why you brought up my name here within this thread. It is not necessarily naviety of black culture, but from my perspective there is no such a thing as a universal "black" culture, but only culture with a hyphenated individual name. Also, you must take into consideration my perspective will be different from yours and others on this website here since it is American based. Since i was raised in a different culture, and my family immigrated from Northern Sudan/Egypt to UAE, and finally settled in New Zealand, so my world view in some contexts will contrast to yours and others here, due to the fact i was raised in a different location, and come from a different culture with different experiences both positive and negative. The reasons why i replied to that thread was due to the fact my family were once immigrants to New Zealand, and i felt compelled to reply to the topic. As far as issues of "race" in New Zealand i never had to deal with that as far as institutionalized racism, besides trying to fit in, and my circles of friends in New Zealand were Egypt Copts mainly(mother is a Sudanese Copt), some people from the Levant, and of course islanders, Maoris, Kiwi, and of course Aussie, and that about it. So, i am not naive but i just have a different opinion about that particular subject, and we all have the right to agree to disagree.

P.S

The only time i have ever experienced what may be considered racism is when i moved to Australia to find work, and i call it post 911 hysteria.

Good post and I agree that there really is no universal black culture. But what I was really talking about was the struggle of blacks in the USA and how we made it possible for other blacks and heck some immigrants to move here but also have an easier life due to the civil rights moment. In that Somali thread you wondered how that was possible.
