Are theatrical “matches” going to be a thing now?

As long as it’s not overdone (and I don’t expect them to not overdo it) and done with the characters in the right circumstances I think it can be great. I don’t watch much actual wrestling anymore, I’m big on storytelling and these kind of matches are basically nothing but that. So in the right setting under the right circumstances with the right players, I’d love to see them do more.

This being the WWE, I can see this becoming a regular annual thing regardless of if it makes sense to actually do them or not.

This only happened because of the virus. WWE needs to acknowledge that and not make this a habit. This will not go over in a live setting where hundreds were spent to see them perform.

Right, I don't want this to become another Money In The Bank or Elimination Chamber where the match gets watered down.

Although I do think out of ring segments like the Booker T and Stone Cold where they were in church and in the grocery store could be a nice addition depending on the feud.

Definitely don’t overuse it but this cinematic angle should be used for guys with supernatural elements in their characters.

For example, guys like Aleister Black desperately needs something of this nature to help him get more over for sure.

Also down the road someone like Killer Kross would also be in his bag if he’s able to run these vignette angles.

Whoever grabs the DoP for this will definitely have a leg up once crowds start being a thing again. I'd love to have big NXT matches filmed like this in Full Sail, or with a reduced crowd for a marquee match. I think having grudge matches in front of maybe 100 deeply invested people with close camera work like this would do way more for the more emotional WWE stories than being in front of 20k would. The dropped lighting and the closer angles with the ability to hear people would be a great transition from empty arena shyt back to ramping crowds up again.

Could definitely work to train your crowds about how to react again. A soft reboot on keeping 'What?' chants and CM Punks out of things, if you run a few months of close-up work with people reacting how they're meant to.

keep it to one or two a year and it’s something you can build anticipation around

Theyve gotta restrain themselves a bit here and not try to make a WWE Funhouse PPV like they do with all their “gimmick” matches

perfect way to use older cats who can’t go weekly anymore but can still contribute on the big stage

The Fiend def needs to be allowed to pull it out from time to time going forward though. It felt like we were dancing around in his head

Rollins is lucky all Bray did to him was Hell in a Cell. He was shrieking at the sight of the Fiend. He wouldn’t have made it out of whatever Shadow realm Cena is currently stuck in

LMAO.. Vince would do some shyt like that. ALL FIREFLY FUNHOUSE MATCHES...

Got Gronk vs. Mojo in the Huskus weight room and shyt :dead:

One of these type of matches at the big 4 ppv or at the very least Summerslam & Mania as they are really the main two WWE sold out the most for
Give it time to buildup and storyline/fued to get deep/personal to get to that type of match
Only thing is how do you do these type of matches with a live crowd

i was thinking, Sting vs Undertaker cant happen this way next year at mania mainly because I bet some of the people who pay big money to come to mania want to experience The Undertaker's entrance live in person with the smoke and fire theatrics.

it would be a letdown if you didnt have him walkout for 100,000 people in LA next year.

In extreme moderation, it could be great.

I still think legends should just stay the fukk home. Them coming out and getting cinematic matches at Mania doesn't address my big issue with them which is taking up time and space on the card that could go to budding talent.
