Are theatrical “matches” going to be a thing now?

On one hand I don’t want WWE to do what they always do and take a concept and run it to the ground. On the other hand, this WM (and yes...Matt Hardy’s vision) has made it where WWE can atleast explore the idea of theatrical “matches” more.

Would I use them on Wrestlemanias? Probably not unless god forbid we’re in another pandemic ever again.

But maybe at a Summerslam or Survivor Series they can have one.

Heck, it opens the door to legends coming back and taking part in these “matches”. If I’m WWE, I’m calling Stone Cold and telling him we don’t want you to come out retirement but how about we give you this huge program where you get into a feud with ______ and the climax takes place in a brawl at your ranch.

Fans would continue to want entertainment like this, right?

I think the circumstances just called for it and allowed for them to stretch a bit.

Bray can't wrestle everybody in the funhouse all the time, he has to have a match in arena, in front of a crowd.

They still have to figure how to re-create that magic in-ring, live.

The red light wasn't it, and he only wrestled as red sweater Bray once.

On rare occasions, since this is more of a circumstance of not having a crowd around. Folks pay to be in the presence of these guys and to be able to say they were there when....

...but I can see them bringing more cinematic matches back out for certain angles when you have guys like The Fiend, Aleister, and Velveteen and old guys like Taker or for mid-card things on TV.

It's the soul of angles like Piper/Goldust, Hogan tossing Giant off a building, HHH/Orton, Rocky tossing Austin in the Detroit River, The Final Deletion, Lucha Underground, Braun murdering Roman across various segments, etc.

Always good to sprinkle it in every now and again.

WWE did a good job at showing both sides of the coin last night. Campy cinematic action-horror (serious) and campy cinematic psychological thriller (less serious), but both effectively told the stories they needed to.

They should do it in moderation when it's called for or no other option rather than all the time.

The circumstances with the Coronavirus made Taker vs AJ there make a lot of sense, it also fit Taker's character as it was pretty much a buried alive match and a story too.

It's not something I wanna see all the time but when it makes sense.
