Arabic language influence on the Spanish language - Wikipedia

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Andalus

Spain was under Muslim rule from 711 to 1492.....just before they colonized the Americas. So all spanish speaking countries around the world can trace their roots to Arabic origins.

this never really clicked for me until i traveled to Spain...the Andalucian region. tons of arabic looking people....arabic palace in Grenada, the Alhambra(a must see btw)....it made me do a literal :ohhh:

i spoke with one of my Mexican/Salvadorean coworkers about this and he admitted that most hispanics see their Arabic hertiage as taboo
